Illustrated Idioms

This is a promotional postcard design that was also an opportunity to experiment with risograph printing. The concept was based on combining the strange and sometimes mysterious imagery of popular idioms into one image, with some influence of the nonsense poetry of Edward Lear.

The French and English expressions I chose are, “to pedal through the semolina” – to make no progress, “on a high horse” – to be arrogant and superior, “head on backwards” – to lack good sense.
